How to setup your Starfleet IMAP email account on your El Capitan OSX iMac.
- Open “System Preferences” and select “Internet Accounts”
2. Scroll down the right pane and select “Mail account”
3. Fill out your name, and your supplied email address and password, then press “Sign In”
4. Enter the mail.starfleet.com.au into “Incoming Mail Server” and “Outgoing Mail Server”, then press “Sign In”
5. Unselect “Notes” and then press “Done”
6. Your client account should not be created. Change the “Description” to “Starfleet” or something suitable to describe the email account. Then close the window.
7. Open the Apple “Mail” application and then choose “Preferences”.
8. It is recommended that you setup SSL encryption for your outgoing and incoming email messages. Start by setting up the “Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) by clicking it. Then click “Edit SMTP Server List”.
9. Change the port number to 465 and make sure “Use SSL” is ticked. “Authentication” should be set to “Password”. Unselect “Allow insecure authentication”. Enter your full email address “User Name” and “Password”. Then select “OK”
10. You should then be returned to the “Accounts” window. Select the “Advanced” tab. Make sure the “IMAP Path Prefix” is “INBOX” (without the double inverted commas). Change the port to 993 and make sure “Use SSL” is ticked. “Authentication” should be set to “Password”. Unselect “Allow insecure authentication”. Enter your full email address “User Name” and “Password”. Then select “OK”.
11. You should be returned to the “Accounts” window. Now close the window and save changes if prompted. This should complete the setup process.
